T r a i n i n g - O p p o r t u n i t i e s :

Completed in August 2008 our training facility in Livermore features a “live fire” hydronic display.  The facility has working boilers, tankless water heaters, pumps, hydronic accessories and hydronic controls. We offer a variety of classes in our live training room.  These training opportunities are designed to familiarize you with the features, benefits, and applications of our product lines.  Classes are taught by both factory personnel and our own staff.

This training room would not have been possible without support from:

AquaSAFE 13D Fire Sprinkler Systems Training

Please note: In order to take the Uponor Level 1 training, you must have a hard copy of the 2013 NFPA 13D Code , available through the NFPA website

Most model codes (International Residential Code and CA Building Code) now require that fire sprinklers must be installed in all single and 2 family homes. Uponor offers design services and products to satisfy this requirement through an NFPA 13D Multi-Purpose fire sprinkler system. An Uponor AquaSAFE System incorporates a home's domestic potable water PEX piping as the conduit for sprinkler water.

    **AquaSAFE for Contactors**

The first step requires the (AquaPEX Certified) plumbing contractor to take an on-line Level 1 class. This Uponor specific 13D course will address automatic sprinkler design, installation and system maintenance. It will also include numerous issues such as component listing, hydrostatic tests, sprinkler temperature ratings, design documentation and hydraulic calculations. This course is required by the manufacturer to use AquaPEX in this application. After passing a short exam, the contractor is allowed to submit plans to Uponor for design consideration. There is a graduated fee associated with this service, based upon the size of the residence. See the DRF, Fire Safety Design Request Form
available through the website for more information. Please note that on the initial contractor AquaSAFE job, Uponor will release the completed plans ONLY to their rep, the Osborne Co. for delivery to the contractor. The rep will then review the plans and assist the contractor in submission to their respective AHJ, Authority Having Jurisdiction (Building Department). After the AquaSAFE installation, the rep will then perform a Level 2 on-site training, when they inspect the installation to deem it ready for the AHJ testing/certification. After the contractor passes this Level 2 training, the contractor is then promoted as an Uponor Alliance AquaSAFE Dealer.

    **AquaSAFE for Owner-Builder Contractors**

Uponor offers a design service and on-line Level 1 training for those owner-builders interested in installing NFPA 13D residential fire protection systems (available through We assume that those using these services are legally and mechanically qualified per California law. As part of the training to install these systems, the Osborne Company can perform Level 2 jobsite instructions and inspections for a fee. At the Level 2 training, we reaffirm the material familiarity with the contractor, review plan deviations, observe potential conflicts with other trades and help the owner-builder prepare for the required flow tests and AHJ inspections.

At this point, we wish to point out the value in using our existing database of trained AquaSAFE contractors for your job. It is highly doubtful that an owner builder will ever do enough work to recoup the costs of training, nor gain cost saving experience from doing multiple jobs.

Costs for on-site Level 2 training is $500 per trip, based on 7 day prior notice within 100 miles of the San Francisco Bay area (Santa Rosa to Santa Cruz). Outside of the greater bay area, this rate increases to $1000 per 24 hour jobsite visit. Jobsites outside of the time/travel limits above will be charged a per diem of $125 per hour with travel and lodging as required.

OMEGAFLEX  TracPipe & CounterStrike CSST Certification**
